Quidditch Champions Update 1.07

While most games these days (regardless if they’re free-to-play titles or premium ones) feature microtransactions that apparently won’t be the case for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions — at least at launch.

Tucked away in the press release sent out by WB Games this week includes the line “no plans for microtransactions in the game at this time.” What’s more, it even states that the Gold that players earn in the game, which is used to buy items for your character,  is only available through gameplay progression. Color us surprised.

Another bit tucked away at the end of the gameplay trailer is a mention of the “Bonus Legacy Pack,” a freebie for players who purchase Qudditich Champions who also own Hogwarts Legacy.

Bonus Legacy Pack (Free for Hogwarts Legacy Owners):

  • Moontrimmer Broom Skin
  • Sebastian Sallow Hero Skin
  • Sebastian Sallow’s Wand
  • Ancient Magic Emblem
  • Ancient Magic Celebration

We asked WB whether this freebie will apply to players who buy Quidditch Champions on a different platform they own Hogwats Legacy (ie. you own Hogwarts Legacy on PC, but opted to buy Quidditch Champions on PlayStation), and the good news is, they’ve confirmed it does! The PR rep replied to us stating, “Hogwarts Legacy players who played the game on PC but plan to play Quidditch on consoles are still able to claim the Legacy Pack for free so long as they’re logged into their WB Games account and have added the device they’re playing on to their WB Games account.”

This is very interesting news, as not only did we expect microtransctions in the game to be available on day one, but it kind of makes sense given most players will want to buy their own custom robes and whatnot to make their characters stand out. That said, this doesn’t mean the publisher can’t add it in via a post-release title update.

Just the other day, WB Games released not only our first gameplay look at Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, but also the pre-order bonus and what the Deluxe Edition houses for players.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will fly out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch and PC this September 3. It will also be available day one for free for existing PlayStation Plus subscribers.
