Ubisoft Monetization Director “Ashamed” and “Sad” at Gamers and Devs Wishing Company to Fail
In case you didn’t know, video game company Ubisoft is facing tough challenges as of late, what with failing stock prices, and weaker than expected sales of some of their AAA releases.
While it’s never good news when a company is failing and in danger of closing shop, it seems some gamers — and even devs — aren’t losing sleep about it. This sentiment hasn’t escaped the eyes of Ubisoft’s Monetization Director Stevy Chassard, who vented his frustrations in a now-deleted post on LinkedIn.
I rarely post on social media, but today I am sad. Ashamed and sad.
The gaming industry is rough at the moment, we all know it. But seeing how “gamers” react on social medias, wishing ill- fate to companies and people alike is sad. (And not only towards Ubisoft)
Even though it is always the vocal minority that express themselves on social media, I was hurt, hurt and ashamed to be a part of this community. What is even more revolting, is coming on LinkedIn and seeing the same comments from people within the industry. On top of exposing yourself as a clearly non-decent human being, you are affecting thousands of employees that are already impacted by all the hate despite doing their best to deliver incredible experiences.
How can you wish a company to fail simply because they do not cater to you or that the product does not please you is beyond me.
We are all on the same boat, please please please, stop spreading hate, we should all uplift each other instead of bringing each other down.
Here’s a screenshot of the statement before it was deleted:
Not sure why Chassard deleted his post, but it does make a lot of sense. I mean, with the industry facing studio shutdowns, mass layoffs left and right, it’s never good to be happy about that — yes, even if you’re not a fan of the studio or company’s products. What’s surprising here is seeing that fellow game developers are seemingly partaking in the “happiness” as well. While we can’t or don’t want to name these devs that Chassard is pointing out, it doesn’t paint a good picture of the person for doing that, even if Ubisoft is considered competition.
While nothing has been confirmed so far for Ubisoft, a recent report that surfaced states that the Guillemot family (which owns the majority stake of Ubisoft) is talking to Chinese mega-corporation Tencent to buy the company out. We’ll have more about that if anything develops.

This one paragraph right there explains the entire problem with Ubisoft:
“How can you wish a company to fail simply because they do not cater to your or that the product does not please you is beyond me.”
Wow. I don’t understand how anyone can expect a company to succeed that does not cater to their customers or at least create products that pleases their customers.
Between this and Bethesda’s recent nonsense statements about Shattered Space, you can tell the people in charge of these companies have completely lost their way and aren’t being honest with us or themselves. Nobody wanted Star Wars Outlaws to fail. What we wanted was a good game that was technically sound on the platform of our choice. Instead we got an average game that was full of technical issues, still is, and on Ubsoft Connect where exactly 0% of the gaming public want to use. I also love the irony of whose saying this. The head of monetization. Gamers want full games and maybe some solid story DLC if it makes sense. We don’t want microtransactions. Yes I’m sure they make money, so does cocaine, that doesn’t mean they should be sold. Of course online discourse is toxic, it’s been that way since the internet was the bulletin board system and the first forums emerged. It should lighten up, but the anger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s there because these companies aren’t giving us the type of product we want and of course that’s their job. It’s literally the only reason for their existence. You give us good products and we give you money. Full stop! If there is an Outlaws 2, the first thing is to release it on all platforms and ideally shut down Ubisoft Connect. It’s awful and we despise it. Second, make sure it’s well designed and technically sound. How did a game this broken get approved? Who thought the speeder and spaceship controls were good. Why can’t I look up and down on a speeder? Why only a speeder, why only one type of ship, why can’t I make my own character? Who makes these consistently poor decisions? Listen to us, sell us the products we want and everyone will cheer it on. Look at the turnaround with Cyberpunk and No Man’s Sky. That happened because those companies listened and gave their consumers what they wanted. Learn form it.
Need Gordon Ramsay shout DENIAL DENIAL DENIAL into their heads
Crying in his yacht. Dickhead.
> “We’re not catering to you but you should be nice and buy our stuff”
Fuck off
> Monetization director
Fuck you and fuck your job.
Don’t worry, he can eat his NFTs.
The AAA gaming needs to collapse so they can remember who their customers are. I’m sorry that people would lose their jobs but they should blame their employers and not the consumers.
Says the freaking Monetization asshat of Ubisoft. Good god xD
Thought experiment: some new hires replace the white frosting in your beloved Oreo cookies with Limburger cheese. How do you feel?
Just another useless piece of shit, being the whining piece of shit that he is. If only the rapture came and rid of us all these useless windbags.
When it comes to Entertainment whether it be games, TV or movies, the customer is always right in the sense, it’s the customer’s money. When companies like Ubisoft, say “Tough, you don’t own the game you are just licensed to use it” or “It’s not for you, go away incel” or are called “Tourists” of course people are going to have glee and try to get their punches in. The potential customer is punching up. dStevy is punching down. If Ubisoft survives, even if in name only, Stevy did some “Great” PR for Ubisoft and for himself.
The internet never forgets as you posted a screen shot of a deleted post. At this point, there are databases of the problem children in the game and entertainment biz. “Blah, blah 3 is coming out. XYZ directed it.” XYZ? Nah, I’m good. “Why?” Well in 2021, XYZ called us bad names. “Oh, I didn’t know that. I won’t see it either”.
It’s just capitalism failing and failing and failing again. What happens in every company eventually is narcissistic psycho/sociopaths getting to the very top on the shoulders of groveling sycophants who convince him that he is god almighty and flawless being of perfect character, so this person becomes unhinged (remember “Bioware Magic”), and loses touch with reality and runs the company to the ground. To be fair, it happened to dictators of all flavors – Stalin, Trump, Mussolini, same principle. That’s why the world should be ruled by AIs. Humans are still socially neolithic hunters where the biggest gorilla tells everyone what to do.
Trump? Okay my man, remove your head from your ass.
He loves capitalism until it slaps him in the face.
The Guillemot cartel made bad business decisions. This guy made terrible business decisions. It’s time to pay the piper
I am deeply saddened by the language used in the comments here, this is a gaming site accessed by all. I get your upset but using language like that because your unable to articulate a decent statement, is very poor. Your angry I get that. But please can we keep the vulgar and offensive language to a minimum. Just because the trash pile that is N4G allows it, I didn’t expect it here 🙁
