Report: Gears of War Trilogy Collection Will Be Multiplatform and Available on PS5 Day One
[summaraize]
One of the longest-running online rumors is that Xbox plans to re-release the Gears of War Trilogy in a new remaster collection. The original rumors said it would be revealed last year, though it was postponed for unknown reasons.
With Xbox essentially going full third-party and porting all their games to rival platforms, we may be getting an announcement for the Gears of War Trilogy Collection soon, as a new rumor claims it will launch on the PS5 on day one.
The Gears of War Franchise May Finally Be Playable on PlayStation

With Xbox announcing yesterday that Forza Horizon 5 would launch on the PS5 this Spring, the invisible red tape holding back Xbox IPs from appearing on PlayStation platforms was officially “torn off.” As one of the big three franchises under Xbox’s wing, the other being Halo and Gears of War, Forza Horizon 5 making the jump to PlayStation basically sealed the deal that anything was possible.
As such, a slew of new rumors has been cropping up online, the latest about the rumored Gears of War Trilogy Collection. While not officially announced, many credible sources have confirmed its existence in the past year. This latest round of rumors, though, originates from YouTuber personaand reliabel leaker eXtas1s, who says the Gears of War Trilogy Collection is coming to PlayStation 5 the same day it releases on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
“I can talk about Gears Collection because Gears Collection has cost me a lot to corroborate its existence but it seems that it exists and I can confirm that at the moment in which Gears Collection is announced, which I don’t know when it will be but it will be announced as multiplatform day one. I repeat again. When these kinds of remasters are announced, remasters of the old Gears games are going to be able to be cross-platform play simultaneously. The only thing I haven’t been able to confirm is the launch of a Switch version, but it can be played cross-platform on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
Of course, take this rumor with a pinch of salt, as nothing is official until it’s official. However, given recent decisions on porting games to other platforms, we’d say this is likely a safe bet, if anything. Of note, we were told of the Gears of War Collection last year, though our source didn’t mention that it would be appearing on PS5 the same day.
It’s ironic enough that the idea of Gears of War on PlayStation isn’t old. Gears of War 3 was reportedly being considered for the PS3, with a playable build leaking a few years back. Obviously, those plans never went through, with the series remaining an Xbox-exclusive, and being a flagship title for the platform. With these rumors now growing stronger every day, we’d say the odds are good that the series is coming to PlayStation.

Not going to happen, sony wouldn’t even allow xbox game pass to be on playstation. They just want you to waste your money on digital downloads
Definitely happening, get ready to eat your words and waste money on a subscription instead of actually owning product
You’ve never owned your games any more than you do now. That’s a delusion by little kiddies that didn’t exist back when gaming started. I have a collection of years of physical media that either doesn’t work anymore or the hardware doesn’t exist anymore. My Steam collection and my GOG collection are forever and have worked across multiple PC’s and generations of Windows and I have never lost a single game.
They didn’t say anything about game pass even going to Playstation
No one said GP coming to playstation Makaveli said at least Playstation owners will own the game and not own it by subscription like xbox owners
Sounds good. As a PC guy I got to play the first one before Cliffy B went total moron on the platform. It’ll be nice to be able to play them all now.
Good. Screw the platform wars and Microsoft is the first one to realize the old way of doing business is dead. People point at Nintendo but that is an outlier because their games don’t cost nearly as much as other publishers.
Look at SONY. They too are third party. Look at Square. They said they are done with exclusivity deals because they aren’t worth it. Look at any publisher. They all are third party because they care about one thing. Money. And you get more money the bigger your audience is. With consoles and PCs being so similar in design, porting is now easier than ever. Not saying it is a simple job but compared to before, it is.
It is only a matter of time before Nintendo finally has to bite the bullet and release games on other platforms. If not by themselves, their investors will demand it.
