Horizon Online release

Sony seems to be positioning Horizon as a major multi-platform franchise, with one of the key projects in development being a multiplayer title called Horizon Online. Although no official confirmation has been made about the game, clues surrounding its development are becoming clearer, and hints at a potential release date for 2025 are emerging.

While details on Horizon Online remain scarce, it is known that Guerrilla Games, the studio behind the Horizon series, is working on a multiplayer project set in the Horizon universe — a news piece we broke alongside the existence of the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster. This aligns with Sony’s broader strategy of expanding into the live-service multiplayer game space, something the company has heavily invested in recently.

A recent job posting by Guerrilla Games revealed that the studio is looking for a “Release QA Intern,” who will play a crucial role in the pre-launch testing phase of an “online project.” The listing notes that the intern will help ensure the game is ready for launch in the “first half of 2025,” which signals that final testing for Horizon Online could begin soon.

The intern will also acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical experience during this phase. Although this doesn’t provide an official release window, it strongly suggests that the game could be launched sometime in 2025.

Even though Sony has yet to officially announce the multiplayer game, several hints have surfaced that support its existence. The company has shown significant interest in live-service games as part of its strategy to diversify beyond traditional single-player experiences. Horizon Online could be a critical title of this vision.

Despite the mixed reception of some live-service titles like Concord, Sony has seen success with others, including Helldivers 2. The company has also expressed its continued commitment to investing in live-service games, so Horizon Online could play an essential role in shaping PlayStation’s future lineup of multiplayer games.

It has my attention if you aren’t shooting guns 95% of the time or it is designed to be played SOLO FIRST. Tack on co-op if you want like Genshin but I won’t give a rat’s ass either way.

But if its shooting or forced to play with others, then NOPE, bin it now like I told you on the PS Blog 2 years ago.

Wouldn’t mind another Horizon single player game, couldn’t careless about any online aspects. If this has a single player campaign that’s possible playing solo, and not unbalanced more less forcing you online then i’d be interested.
