GTA 6 Could Be Banned in Russia Unless Rockstar Removes “Immoral” Content
There’s no doubt that Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most anticipated video games in history. Following the success of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, expectations are extremely high among fans. The game is currently set for release on November 19, 2026, although some speculate it could be delayed to 2027.
However, a major Russian political figure has stated that the game’s content is “immoral” and could corrupt young people, potentially preventing the game from being sold in Russia.
Russia Threatens to Ban GTA 6 Unless Rockstar Censors the Game
In a recent interview, Mikhail Ivanov, deputy chairman of the World Russian People’s Council, made comments that have gained a lot of attention. He said that Rockstar’s decision to include adult scenes — particularly male strip club scenes — goes against traditional values and moral standards.
“The creators of GTA VI are deliberately including destructive and vulgar content in their product, which is completely unacceptable to the moral health of society,” Ivanov said. “This includes the planned inclusion of scenes of male striptease in the game, which is a direct and cynical violation of basic moral norms and traditional spiritual values.”
According to Ivanov, such content is harmful and could “corrupt the young generation,” and he urged Rockstar to remove or change it if the company wants to release the game in Russia. He requested that GTA 6 be banned unless a “special version” is developed which is free of immoral content.
He also claimed that other countries have already taken measures to “prevent our children from being sold the poison of corruption and permissiveness under the guise of entertainment.” Ivanov described GTA’s popularity as a “dangerous tool of influence” and urged for “civic responsibility” to keep Russian children from being exposed to “corruption and permissiveness.”
In other news, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that AI will not be able to create a competitor to “Grand Theft Auto,” as he believes the creative and hit-making aspects of game development require “human genius.”
When it comes to GTA 6, the game’s delay is so big that it even reached the Polish parliament.
