Rockstar Games is reportedly working on a port of GTA 4 for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. It seems that the release date is set for this year. This could be a way for fans to wait for the release of GTA 6 while revisiting an old chapter of the game.

This version of Grand Theft Auto 4 is expected to be an updated version, not a full remaster. It is also expected that a similar conversion will be made for Max Payne 3.

GTA 4 Port Could Arrive on Current-Gen Consoles by the End of 2025

The source of this news is Tez2, a community member notable for regularly sharing Rockstar-related content updates. According to this leaker, the plans for the GTA 4 port were shared by someone who works inside Rockstar Games. Tez2 also mentions that the port has been in development for about a year.

“Someone at Rockstar Games hinted at the GTA 4 port, and by now it should’ve gone up a year in development,” says Tez2. “We may end up seeing it drop later this year.”

Tez2 also points out that this could explain why the GTA 5 Liberty City Preservation Project mod was recently blocked by Rockstar Games. If Rockstar follows the plan set during the pandemic, they will also port Max Payne 3 after GTA 4. This could lead to a bundle or even a Definitive Edition.

However, it’s important to note that this is just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, even though the leaker has accurately predicted some details in the past. For example, Tez2 discovered code in the Rockstar Launcher indicating that Red Dead Redemption would be coming to PC, which was later confirmed. Still, Rockstar’s plans could change as time goes on.

In related news, GTA 6 has released a surprise second trailer, offering a deeper look at the story of main characters Lucia and Jason, along with new details about the setting, characters, and plot.
