While the last Battlefield game released was Battlefield 2042 back in November 2021, it seems that hype for the franchise hasn’t waned that much even if we haven’t even officially gotten the next Battlefield game announcement just yet.

During parent company Electronic Arts’ (EA) latest quarterly earnings report, EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced that the Battlefield franchise as a whole has surpassed over 25 million players in the last 12 months! Not only that, but Wilson also claims that the community is “energized” by what EA’s teams are doing, calls the next Battlefield game in development as “one of the most ambitious projects in our history.”

Players continue to be passionate about the Battlefield franchise, which has surpassed over 25 million players over the last 12 months. The community is energized by what our teams are doing and excited for what comes next. This is not just one of our top priorities, it is also one of the most ambitious projects in our history.

We have brought together the very best team coupled with the resources and technology they need to deliver an epic Battlefield experience. I am excited about what is to come next, as we continue to make progress across our strategic priorities

Unfortunately, Wilson didn’t provide a breakdown on which Battlefield games are being played the most (outside of BF2042). While there’s still no formal announcement about the in-development Battlefield game other than confirming it is being developed by multiple teams, the current entry in the series, Battlefield 2042, is still getting updates and events even after its seasonal content has been concluded. Just recently, we got the Dead Space collab event, and there’s more incoming detailed in the new roadmap.

As for the next Battlefield game, not much is known about it other than it’s in a playable state, and EA calls it a “tremendous live service.” Hopefully, we’ll get an announcement about the new BF game soon. What EA said about it does make sense, as the new Battlefield game is being made by quite a number of studios including DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion and even Dead Space remake developer, Motive Studio.
