While Cronos: The New Dawn is a purely single-player affair, Bloober Team will have something to add to the replay value, and that’s with the inclusion of New Game Plus (+)!

Not only that, as while Cronos is a linear game, Bloober explains how the horror game’s dialogue choices will add another layer of replayability as well.

The developer confirmed these details in an exclusive interview with MP1st, where we got a chance to play the game before its release.

Cronos: The New Dawn Replayability Aided by Souls Player Collect

During the interview, we asked Bloober whether the game will be a linear experience or if there are any open world type of content to chew on.

Lead Writer and Lead Narrative Designer Grzegorz Like, and game director Jacek Zięba both answered the question by explaining how the game is a linear experience, but there’s a certain element of freedom to it still.

Jacek Zięba answered, “It’s hard to answer because we have a time travel story. In the case of structure, it’s linear with moments of freedom, like backtracking, and resolving all the stuff on the level. But still the story will need to go on a proper pace, because we want to say something very specific here.

Grzegorz Like explained, “We thought about doing multiple variations of things, and all that, but after experimenting, we decided to make it more linear because that’s more of a friendly environment for horror stories. Because you don’t want to make it too big, because it wears off, you know? But we still wanted to give the player that kind of feel of choices and all that, so we have dialogue choices, and your choices affect what you see in the game, what souls you have in your collection.”

“People you extract will change the way you perceive the game. They will whisper to you different things and they will give you context of things. After one play through, you meet your friend in a bar, you will talk about the game, and your experience will be a bit different, and maybe that will make you, you know, replay the game,” Like added.

Cronos: The New Dawn New Game+ Confirmed and It Will Make the Game Harder

Continuing with that conversation, we asked straight-up whether the game will feature a New Game Plus of some kind.

Fortunately, the developers didn’t try to be coy or anything, as Grzegorz Like confirmed it, stating, “Yes, and you can also change the difficulty to a higher level.”

Well, there you have it. Given Cronos will feature multiple endings that don’t have clear definitions of whether they’re good or bad, that should also add to the replayability.

Based on what we played so far, horror fans will want to keep this on their radar.

Cronos: The New Dawn is confirmed for release on September 5 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC.
