Baldur's Gate 3 Wins Ultimate Game of the Year

It’s awards season in the game industry, and to kick it all off, The Golden Joystick Awards has just held their yearly event, crowning the ultimate game of the year award to Baldur’s Gate 3.

The competition was fierce this year’s Golden Joystick, with the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Alan Wake 2, and so many others competing for the Ultimate Game of the Year, but of course, there can only be one winner. And who was the winner? Unsurprisingly, it was none other than Larian Studio’s Baldur’s Gate 3! In addition to the Ultimate Game of the Year, Baldur’s Gate 3 also managed to snag four other awards for the game, and two for the studio and performer: Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Game Community, Best PC Game of the Year, Best Supporting Performer, and Studio of the Year.

The complete list of Golden Joystick Winners (via Gamesrader) can be found below.

  • Best Storytelling – Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Still Playing Award – No Man’s Sky
  • Best Visual Design – Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Studio of the Year – Larian Studios

  • Best Supporting Performer – Neil Newborn, Astarion, Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Nintendo Game of the Year – The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • PC Game of the Year – Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Xbox Game of the Year – Starfield
  • PlayStation Game of the Year – Resident Evil 4
  • Most Wanted Game – Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • UGOTY – Baldur’s Gate 3

Congratulations to everyone on the list, and major applause for Larian Studios with Baldur’s Gate 3. We suspect this won’t be the only Game of the Year award they take this holiday season, though the bigger question is, will they be able to conquer The Game Awards this December? I guess we’ll know soon enough!
